“Halfway” season stats/report:

• Oxford League Div 1: 2/15 Division has been decimated and consequently I’ve hardly had any games to play which is disappointing. I don’t feel that my mere 2 wins reflects my performances - I feel unlucky to not have at least a couple more. There are only a handful of matches left now until the end of the season, hopefully I’ll win a few more but :person_shrugging:

Oxford League also runs the ‘AAHS’ cup which is a handicap team event, we made it through the first round despite having to give the opposition a ~240 point headstart across the fixture. We’ve drawn our own D team in round 2 and I suspect we’ll struggle to overcome the handicap…

• Leamington League Div 1: 0/12 This has gone about as expected, however after having lost a close 5 set match from 2-0 against a player with a ~70% win average last time out, I’m quite inspired going forward and hopefully my first win is on the horizon. Team has more or less already secured a ‘mid-table’ finish (ie. not fighting for title or at risk of relegation) + therefore looks like captain is fielding ds the rookie a lot more in the second half of the season

• British League: 0/12 Format is slightly different to local league in that you seed your team, ranked 1-4 + player 1 plays opposition 1+2, player 2 plays opposition 1+3 etc. I am ranked seed 1, so have been stuck playing every team’s best players - ie. getting spanked silly.

• National ranking update (TIL rankings != ratings when looking at ITTF/TTE numbers) : Going into the start of the season my rating placed me 1088 (302 ranking points). At the end of December I was placed 1014 (despite losing ranking points lmfao). Need to get into some more ranking tournaments, played in one last Sunday and picked up a few matches so hopefully I was ’expected’ to lose to the players I did and my ranking incurs a positive net result :face_with_raised_eyebrow:
